The Ja’dore Fashion Show: Arts for Progress Charity Event was a great success. Turnout was great, food was a little shaky, but the collections from the up and coming fashion designers significantly made up for the dry burger patties and burnt pickles. The event was held at club BLVD - located on Bowery street in NYC- showcasing some of the tri-state area’s most fabulous and talent fresh designers. Overall, theme of the collections presented- urban meets runway vogue. The Fabric Twinz definitely caught my attention as their fashion sense captured the essence of the word “ORIGINALITY.” The beautiful mosaic of colors jumped right off the fabric and into my orbs. A billion dollars in the style bucket for sure. Fabric Twinz took some time out of their busy schedules to talk with Life and Style Union…

Ashleigh:
Recently, at the Ja’dore Fashion Show, I spotted your unique designs and literally desired to snatch the clothes right off the models! The colors used were so vibrant, and the patterns, totally eclectic. What ignites your creativity?

The Fabric Twinz:
Everything from movies and paintings to different countries we are inspired by alot of different things its all about observing your surroundings....

Ashleigh:
How long have you guys been fashion designing?

The Fabric Twinz:
Tanise has been designing for about a year and a half and I've been designing and sketching since the age of 12 but we've been working together as a designer duo for about a year.

Ashleigh:
I noticed most of your collections consisted of female apparel. Do you have male collections as well?

The Fabric Twinz:
We are actually working on our mens collection now so stay tuned.

Ashleigh:
How did the brand “Fabric Twinz” arise?

The Fabric Twinz:
The first time we went out with matching fabrics was on June. 23, 2008 but we just thought it would be cool to do for Erica's 21st B-day but then a couple of months after that we went to the fabric store to buy some fabric and we just ended up getting the same fabric, we made our own outfits to go out to the club and then we just continued to do it like 2-3 times a week and people started to notice.

Ashleigh:
Where are you guys from?

The Fabric Twinz:
The Bronx,NY

Ashleigh:
The Fabric Twinz defines style. Let Life and Style Union in on your fave “shoperias” around town!

The Fabric Twinz:
We love thrift shops especially the ones in New Jersey and Deleware because of the quality clothing that you can get for so cheap and ofcourse H&M thats all we really wear besides our own designs.

Ashleigh:
Do you design plus-size clothing? If not, why?

The Fabric Twinz:
Not now but ofcourse we will in the future because we have alot of family and friends that are plus size and we see how hard it is for plus size women to find things that fit well.

Ashleigh:
Fall is right up on our heels, and winter will be here in the blink of an eye. What can LSU readers anticipate from your Fall/Winter collections?

The Fabric Twinz:
There will be alot of great dresses and outfits that can be worn during the holiday season and what we will always have is classic peices as well as trendy peices so there will be something for everybody.

Ashleigh:
Life and Style Union wants to see what you up and coming fashion designers are made of. For each body type described below, design an ensemble that you think accentuates natural assets or masks unflattering flaws. Show LSU what you got!
Body Type A
*Female 5’10
*Long legs
*Short torso
*Size 11 shoes
*Pant Size: 8
*Bra Measurement: 34A
*Shirt Size: Medium
*General Physical Characteristic: Excess fat around mid-section
*Small derrière

Fabric Twinz:
A nice mini-dress with a Sweet heart top and a flare bottom, the sweet heart neck line is great for woman with small breast it also shows off your shoulders and makes your upper body look longer. The flare at the bottom of the dress hides the excess fat around your mid-section and the shortness of the dress shows off your long legs. when you have long legs you either have to wear dress very short, knee length or to the floor nothing in between.

Ashleigh:
Body Type B
*Female 4’11
*Short neck
*Bra Measurement: 40DD
*Size 6 shoes
*Pant Size: 15
*Shirt Size: Extra Large
*General Physical Characteristic: Stocky built with love handles

Fabric Twinz:
Scoop neck and V-neck tops with loose fit or A-line tops
because these tops show of more cleavage and the a-line shape hides love handles. Its always good to have a Classic Blazer.

Ashleigh:
Body Type C
*Female 5’6
*Size 8 shoes
* Short legs
*Pant Size: 5
*Bra Measurement: 36C
*Shirt Size: Medium
*General Physical Characteristic: Athletic, hour glass figure

Fabric Twins:
Accentuate your hour glass shape with belts, wrap dresses and pencil skirts. Shorter dresses are also best for people with short legs and knee boots make your legs look longer.

Ashleigh:
Are you scheduled for any fashion showcases in the near future?

The Fabric Twinz:
Yes, we have lots of shows coming up including our own show Fashion's Obsession 2" A Night at the Movies" the show will take place on Oct. 3, 2009 at Washington Irving.

Ashleigh:
Where can LSU find and purchase your clothing?

The Fabric Twinz:
You can contact us www.myspace.com/TheFabricTwinz or E-mail us at Fabrictwinz@aol.com . We are working on our website right now so it will be up very soon.....

Ashleigh:
As blossoming fashion designers, what words of encouragement can you give little girls who cut up pieces of fabric to make "Barbie clothing," in hopes that one day they can be famous designers, as well as advice for the upcoming fashion designers of 2009-2010?

The Fabric Twinz:
Keep going...practice makes perfect also don't make excuses; always find a solution and last but not least the three words we live by Professionalism, Integrity and Appearance.

Ashleigh:
